As a food reviewer for Foodjoyy, I've had the pleasure of indulging in the delights that Izakaya Noname has to offer. From their appealing lunch and brunch specials to their mouthwatering grilled dishes and ramen bowls, every selection promises an explosion of flavor. The standout here is the Katsu Bento, featuring a crispy deep-fried cutlet served with a rich katsu sauce, alongside Japanese pork sausage and perfectly cooked soft-boiled egg over rice. At just US$16.95, this dish is a comforting yet satisfying take on traditional Japanese cuisine.
Meat-lovers will appreciate the smoky allure of the Shio Saba Yaki, succulent grilled mackerel seasoned to perfection. Alternatively, seafood enthusiasts will find joy in the Ika Maruyaki, a tender grilled squid adorned with teriyaki sauce and sesame seeds, priced at US$16.95. For a cozy night-in feeling, I recommend their Spicy Miso Ramen. This creamy broth, enhanced with chili paste, is layered with shrimp and corn that adds depth to each slurp, priced at US$17.95.
When I speak to fellow diners, I can’t help but mention the praise that the staff receives. The atmosphere is beautifully arranged, creating a cheerful backdrop for either a casual meal or a special celebration. As one customer astutely noted, “the decor is thoughtfully done,” echoing sentiments shared by many who admire the careful attention to detail that has gone into creating this space.
For those who love to share dishes, the Sake Sashimi Don is a perfect choice. Each experience at Izakaya Noname is enhanced manifold by the warmth of its staff, ensuring that not only is the food unforgettable, but the overall dining experience is equally remarkable.

“ Izakaya Noname in LIC is a cozy spot with super friendly staff and really tasty food. The hotpot is comforting, the curry’s flavorful, and the salmon carpaccio is super fresh. Great place to chill and grab a solid Japanese meal. ”
“ Their food is great—authentic Japanese flavor with a subtle touch of Western influence. Highly recommend their pasta and beef don—both dishes have a unique character and are packed with flavor. The decor is also thoughtfully done, creating a cheerful and pleasant atmosphere that really elevates the dining experience. ”
“ An outstanding experience from start to finish. As a European, I was genuinely impressed by the flawless service — fast, kind, and incredibly professional. The staff were also adorable with my 2-year-old child, which made the whole meal even more enjoyable. The food is simply delicious. I had the oyakodon, and it was easily one of the best I’ve ever tasted — perfectly balanced, flavorful, and comforting. Honestly, we could take inspiration from this level of hospitality and culinary quality. A must-visit in New York. ”
“ I took my dad here for his birthday and it was a great experience ! I've always ordered Izakaya Noname on Uber Eats for delivery so this was my first time at the restaurant. The restaurant is beautiful, the staff are friendly, and the food was great. Highly recommend! ”
“ love everything about this place! the food, atmosphere, and staff are very prompt. the sake sashimi don is a great shareable dish and hit the spot! we got the grilled mackerel without rice and used the extra rice from the sashimi don to accompany the mackerel dish! ”
“ Izakaya Noname is one of our favorite Japanese restaurants in LIC. We always start with the Ube Tempura - Crunchy on the outside, soft and subtly sweet in the middle. It is so good and absolutely worth trying. The Gyoza were crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside served with a dipping sauce. The Spicy Niku Udon was very good—thick, chewy noodles swimming in a rich, savory broth with tender slices of beef. The Sparkling Yuzu Matcha was very a refreshing treat - citrusy, lightly bitter, and with just enough fizz to keep it fun. It’s the kind of drink you don’t expect to crave until you’ve had it. Great for casual hangs, date nights, or just treating yourself to something flavorful and fun. The decor and posters are unique and fun. Staff was extremely welcoming, friendly, and knowledgeable. We always have a great experience here. ”
“ We have been meaning to go to Izakaya Noname or how I jokingly call the it “the no name” restaurant for a while. And now it is one of our new favorite spots in the neighborhood. Really liked how much thought was put into the design of everything there - walls, ceiling, menu, food presentation. Folks working there are super friendly and nice, and most importantly - food is delicious and very affordable. ”
“ I had the Karaage Udon Set at Izakaya Noname and was genuinely impressed. The flavors were rich and well-balanced, and the portion size was surprisingly generous for the price. The karaage was perfectly crispy on the outside and juicy inside, pairing beautifully with the flavorful udon broth. I also tried their beer and it was excellent — cold, smooth, and complemented the meal really well. Overall, a fantastic dining experience with great value. Highly recommended! ”
